Yourself in comfortable clothing you can move freely in! We do take off our shoes, so presentable socks would be nice. No dance or yoga experience is needed to Gyrokinesis nor is there a need for additional equipment or special clothing.
*For mat classes, please bring a mat if you have one.

Classes begin seated to awaken spine gently. Often, there’s a self-massaging element to stimulate circulation. We move into rhythmic spinal sequences working flexion, extension, side bending, and rotation. We then transition to the mat for deeper core and hip work. Class finishing standing with a portion on balance and coordination. The entire session is continuous with no long, static holds.
Note: many classes do not have mat work.

Every movement connects through the spine. Arms don’t move independently—they connect through the ribcage. Legs initiate from the pelvis, and breathing mobilizes the thoracic spine.
Nothing is passive.
We move our hands and feet, and articulate the joints continuously. We move in three planes consistently, keeping our nervous system engaged the whole time.
We focus on integration, not isolation.

Externally, many people report feeling taller with a more mobile spine. Their breathing deepens without effort. Shoulder and hip tension will start to ease, and balance improves surprisingly quickly. Posture improves without “trying,” and people notice daily tasks feel easier. Increased flexibility and better balance are also key benefits.
Internally, the rhythmic breathing stimulates the nervous system in a balancing way. The piraling motions gently massage the internal organs, and circulation improves. People often report feeling calmer, but more energized at the same time.

The Gyrokinesis Method is a fluid, rhythmic movement practice that works the entire body through spirals and waves. The method is built around the spine—because the spine is central to how we move, breathe, and function. It focuses on circular movement with three-dimensional patterns rather than straight lines. Our breath leads everything, driving the movement. While the method is low-impact, it’s incredibly comprehensive, strengthening, mobilizing, and energizing. It’s about awakening th ebody rather than forcing it.
-
One of the biggest differences is that Gyrokinesis is three-dimensional and circular. Many exercise systems are linear, which means forward and back. Gyrokinesis spirals and undulates because we focus on the spine, which moves in flexion, extension, side bending, and rotation.
It’s also very rhythmic and breath-driven. The breath isn’t separate from the movement—it leads the movement.
Rather than holding static poses, movement is continuous. That continuity helps lubricate the joints, mobilize the spine, and improve circulation.
-
Not at all! While Gyrokinesis was created by a dancer, it’s truly for everyone.
Seniors who want joint mobility
Athletes who want cross-training
People recovering from injury (with clearance)
Office workers with tight spines and shoulders
Anyone wanting a whole-body workout without heavy impact
Because Gyrokinesis is low-impact and adaptable, it meets people where they are.
